Bonnie Tyler |
For her new studio album Bonnie Tyler dug into the goldmine of rock and came up with 13 classics that take on new life with her unique voice. |

There's no mistaking the voice of Bonnie Tyler - when she sings a song, the song gets sung! Heart Strings is a collection of some of the finest songs ever recorded. Bonnie commits a kind of emotional investment to the set, giving each track a fresh start through her personal interpretations. |

"The album has the powerful ballads I'm used to doing, but there's a lot of tender moments. And there's this 76-piece orchestra; It's fabulous to have all that behind you," Bonnie says. Guitars and traditional rock instruments mixed with strings place Bonnie into a new sound universe, with the hard edges of rock rounded off by sessions with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. |

Bonnie tells how through the years in music certain melodies or snatches of lyrics would stick in her mind as something she would like to record one day. In preparing for the new album she needed to choose from among hundreds of great songs "When the band and I were on tour we would talk a lot about the possibilities and considered various suggestions. It wasn't an easy process," she says. "Obviously a lot of my favourites are there." |
|
The set - Bonnie's first on the CMC/EMI label -- contains songs originally done by a mix of artists from different periods spanning the rock era. Bruce Springsteen's "Human Touch" gets an added dimension of longing with Bonnie's voice pining for tenderness. "It's a ballsy one to sing. I was a bit worried about whether to do it. I don't think it's been done by a girl before." |
|
In a step back to the '60s - when Bonnie was a budding singer - she takes a softer approach with The Beatles "In My Life. "It's such a gentle song and I had to hold back a bit." |
